Submersion & Emergence: Digging Deep for Writing that Soars
with Marty McConnell

July 17-23, 2016 at The Clearing Folk School

We all have them: the problem poems, the tough topics, the elusive endings, the writer’s blocks that seem ten or ten thousand feet tall. During this week of poetic immersion in the exquisite Door County Wisconsin setting, we will explore the work of writers who reach deep into themselves and stretch far into the world to make transformative, transcendent poems.

We will tackle our individual writing challenges by experimenting and playing with the techniques and approaches we learn from these poems, remembering that the labor of writing must be balanced by joy in the process. Together, we will read, write, share, and critique our way to new levels of growth.

Each participant will have the opportunity to receive one-on-one instructor support and feedback on a poem or writing challenge during the course of the week. The workshop will focus on poetry, but is open to those who write in any genre.
